guitarharmonicasailingwhite coat ceremony

Hi Fam!

I’m writing from Baltimore, primarily to let you all know I’m gonna miss everyone at the reunion.
Work is taking me to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I’m excited about the trip, but wish I could have made it to Pennsylvania as well.

The summer has been beautiful.
Sailing, music-making, throwing dinner parties, playing capoeira, biking, letting my hair grow.
I finished my first year of medical school. Now I’m spending the summer doing some policy research on national responses to the HIV and TB epidemics.

I wanna extend an open invitation to y’all to visit me in Baltimore. If you come before it gets cold, I’ll take you out on the water.

The pics are of me playing the guitar and harmonica, sailing, and at the white coat ceremony with friends and family.

Something that i am proud of:
I pray everyday.
I love spending lots of time with elders.
I mostly eat at home.
I make it a point to learn something new everyday.
Nothing can stop me from getting what i want. If I want anything for myself, all i have to do is want it and nothing will possibly come in my way.
I dream and i achieve.
I have clarity of thought.
I am deeply committed to making a difference in the world.
I respect women.
I actually listen to people when they are communicating opposed to hearing them and have mind conversations about the things they are saying.
Education for everybody in this world is something that i will give my life to transform.
I have been an avid reader of books nowadays.
I love having an intelligent conversation over a cup of coffee.
I am excited about everything in my life.
I don’t think i have the word anger in my dictionary and you will hardly see me upset or off mood.
I am full of life and want to live it to the fullest, who knows what’s there in store tomorrow.
I feel deeply, powerfully for people that matter to me in my life.
I am considered creative and innovative by people around me.
I am full of ideas and am working on a plan to implement those.
I don’t drink neither do i smoke.

Something that is a harsh reality and i am working on it:
I couldn’t live to my parents expectations to be the top student in my Engineering and Masters Studies.
I have also got C+ grade in my courses for Masters at USC.
I am a failure in my own eyes because i haven’t been able to complete the Kutchi Dictionary project that i took on.
I seek a career change from the Software Industry.
I am impulsive at times and react without thinking.
I need to get 8 hours of sleep daily which has become a dream since the time i came to the US.
My health is good but fitness is bad. Low immunity levels.

These are my random weekday musings.
Thank you for your patient listening.

Heylo Family,

I have got a full time job offer from Sharewell Group in Los Angeles. My job profile is of a Full Time Lead PHP Developer. I have been freelancing for this company for the past two weeks and they decided to give me a formal offer today. It’s a small company and the people are great to work with. The pay is also decent. I have interacted with their staff while i was at their office in San Diego. Am all excited about starting this job. I am also done with my Masters coursework at USC so now i don’t have to take anymore courses and i can work and take the remaining 1 credit that remains and graduate in December.
Life has been busy with all this at hand.
Some other summer plans i have:
1. Taking a course as a Voice Over artist.
2. Learning to play golf.
3. and last but not the least.. plan for our family get together and come down to Pittsburgh during that weekend.

p.s. just forgot to mention but real thanks to ashish and nimit for their support during my interview process

Time sure flies by very fast!!! Our lil’ princess is now 6 months old. She has started to sit up and loves her time in her high chair. She enjoys dropping her toys and then watch me pick them up again and again and again!! (part of my exercise regime these days ;) ) Her latest fancy is the “Tennis Ball” (Watch out Ami-Avi… your competition on her way:)). She laughs so hard when I bounce it up against the wall with the sound effect… “Bubboom”

She has quite a personality. With ma she is quite an angel… and come evening, when pa arrives she’s a devil! Both of them have a blast and she loves pa tickling her. (Check out the video!)

Khushi is a people person. However, she takes a while to get adjusted in an environment before she can be herself. I take her out for strolls with Priti kaki and Parth bhai whenever the weather is fine. Khushi is very observant and coos a lot while on her outings. Can’t wait for her to run around the house. I am getting her Jhanjhar as soon as she takes her first step!!!

So much for now… waiting for her dada-dadi to arrive in a week’s time.

Njoy!!

Happy birthday Dipti! I hope you have a wonderful day. The skies are weeping with happiness for you.

I also want to sincerely apologize for being absent from Medavo for the last few months. My internet access is poor in Sierra Leone but now I am back and would like to be more in touch while I’m here.

I want to send ^sincere^ though belated birthday wishes to Mitesh, Ashish, Dad, Vasu fui, Avni, and Duncan ji. And happy anniversary wishes to Vishal and Dipti, Jayanti Kaka and Jaya Kaki, and Jyoti Fui and Suresh fua. (have I forgotten anyone else from the last few months?). And to thank you all for your happy birthday wishes to me in march, which were a warm touch of home while I was far away.

Paras somehow the fact that you dove from 10,000 ft. had escaped me! I’d love to jump with you next time.

It was great to see some of you in Cleveland, and some of you in Norwalk.

just to take a poll: anybody supporting barack obama for 2008?

and another: anybody read any outstanding books lately? I love “Creation” by E.O. Wilson: an appeal from a renowned evolutionary biologist (I took his class in college) for science and religion to put aside their differences and make common cause to save our environmental heritage. It is such a compelling argument, expressed with both passion and reason.

also: our program in sierra leone has a website now, have a look at timapforjustice.org

nim- is the poetry site online yet?

Much love,

vivek

Yesterday, my roommate and I decided that we wanted a change, so even though we have a month left in the year, we decided to move our furniture around and create a different space. This is what the room looks like nowAnna and I sleeping in our new bunk bed!My Side

We are back with a bang.

Hey, We had an Interfaith council conference at USC and we hosted one of the attendees Steven who came from Kansas city. He was a pretty cool guy and we had a good time together. We cooked Pav Bhaji for him and his friends on Sunday evening and they simply loved eating Indian food. Here are some pictures from our yesterday’s cooking and celebration adventure.
