happy birthday doctor sheela maru!
your life is so rich and so full: catching babies, conducting surgeries, raising two beautiful boys.
i remember halloween/birthday parties with karen jones in the basement of the house on coach drive
who will you dress as this year? how will you celebrate?
we love you sheelu
a scientist, an innovator, a seeker, a patient guru
since a child i have admired your work ethic: a natural rhythm, your hands and mind always moving , always creating or cleaning or fixing or giving.
you have inspired and guided all of us.
you challenge us to our higher selves.
if i could only be half the man.
i found this completely moving.
the pbs video summarizes nicely.
large scale impact by one thoughtful, innovative, compassionate person.

happy birthday chintan bhai!
our loving and loyal brother who always has a smile to warm you, a joke, an insight to make you think, an observation to make you look twice, a question to make you wonder, a dance move, something nourishing on the fire.
did anyone notice which fine lady he was peeping at tania and my wedding?
here are some photos from the trip chin and i took to sierra leone in october. chin did a project on strengthening timap’s approach to accountability for health services.
it was very special for me that he made that trip.

here, at this link, there are a few minutes of video from our wedding.
and here, at this link, are the photographer’s wedding photos.
we are still glowing from the love all of you showed us during that time.
here are a couple shots from our honey moon, one in front of trevi fountain in rome and another along the siento del deos, the “path of the gods,” a hiking trail along the hills above the amalfi coast. we really dug italy– remind us to tell you some stories.
and a couple shots of the lovely bhavna which vasu fui and jadgesh fua organized, in honor of the anniversary of the passing of both maru’s dadima and mamania’s dadima. the voices of vasu fui’s mandal sisters filled the room with positive energy.
and a couple shots from our trip to raigad, shivaji’s fort in the western ghats. it was beautiful in this season: the rain drops, the ruins in the mist, the irrepressible green of monsoon.
Dearest family members,
I don’t know how to thank you for the time and energy and seva you put into our wedding last weekend. From flying to two different locations, to the songs you sang, the food you prepared, the roles you played in the ceremony, the warmth with which you reached out to Tania’s family, the hardar you smeared on me, the dances you practiced and performed, the table cards you wrote, the slide show you rescued, the sacred objects you gathered, the help in setting up venues, the organization, the wisdom, the laughter.
We are awash in your love.
I am so blessed to belong to a family such as this.
I will always remember these days.
Which umedvar is taking the next fall?!
yours forever
vivek and tania
ps. i couldn’t seem to upload a photo but there is a link to raas garba photos here: http://corbin.exposuremanager.com/g/tania_vivek
