Thanks, Vivek, for the post and all of you for the birthday wishes. I had a great weekend.
@Dhenu/Mitesh: I actually went to a party called “4 hours of funk” so your birthday wish for me came true.
@Jayanti Kaka/Jaya Kaki, I don’t know when I’ll make it to Norwalk, but ALL of you are encouraged to visit Baltimore.
@Priti: I would be honored to cook for you. Come with the fam to Baltimore. Parth will love the National Aquarium.
WHEN ARE DOING RAKSHABANDAN y’all? Maybe we could gather in Philly and welcome Nimit back to the East coast?
Check out these pics from our visit to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts…
Hi Fam!
I’m writing from Baltimore, primarily to let you all know I’m gonna miss everyone at the reunion.
Work is taking me to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I’m excited about the trip, but wish I could have made it to Pennsylvania as well.
The summer has been beautiful.
Sailing, music-making, throwing dinner parties, playing capoeira, biking, letting my hair grow.
I finished my first year of medical school. Now I’m spending the summer doing some policy research on national responses to the HIV and TB epidemics.
I wanna extend an open invitation to y’all to visit me in Baltimore. If you come before it gets cold, I’ll take you out on the water.
The pics are of me playing the guitar and harmonica, sailing, and at the white coat ceremony with friends and family.
Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. It’s a quarter century, if you didn’t know.
I haven’t posted since the first weeks of Medavo and haven’t had a chance to tell many of you what I’ve been up to, so let me try to fill you all in…
After over two years in Jamaica, I flew back to NYC last night. For those of you who figured I was just vacationing for 24 months solid–you’re only partially wrong. I was indeed living in paradise, in the Kingston home of my best friend from Duke, an ivy-covered townhouse surrounded by fruit trees and oversized flowers, with windows always open that hummingbirds would hum through. But I was also studying and working. One year as a Fulbright scholar at the University of the West Indies, studying literature (and dancehall and Afro-caribbean folk dance and surfing and exploring the island). The second year conducting public health research at the country’s maxiumum security prison (and applying to medical school).
Tomorrow I drive to Baltimore, Maryland to start medical school at Johns Hopkins. I hope I can be in better touch with family now that I’m back in the States. I encourage everyone to visit Baltimore sometime soon, even if you’re just passing through for a couple hours while driving on I-95.
Nuf love to our ever-expanding family,
hello maru clan
what happened to panjoblog?
is it too late to lobby for nim’s original idea?
after dhenu’s wedding i returned to kingston, jamaica
working to extend hiv treatment to inmates in the country’s largest prison
i’m working with a research team from the states
and applying to med schools at the same time.
just returned for sheela and duncan’s engagement
(see sheela’s mendhi)
i’m happy to be back to see everyone but DAMN is it cold.
besides “panjoblog”, my bigger lobbying project is to persuade the maru etc clan to migrate to JAMAICA. i promise, island life is bliss. if you dare visit, you may end up staying for good.
so i triple-dog-double-dare-ya.
