Driving Directions for India
Posted by Nimit October 24th, 2007
Hey guys, just heard of something cool. Yahoo Maps India just released driving directions for India. Something unique about these directions is that they are structured in the “indian directions” way meaning they use landmarks more than street names, etc.
Try it out here and see what you think:
directions from goregaon to andheri
This is the first launch, so the directions may not be the best (you guys probably know more), but take a look and see what you think!
PS - if you are not going to drive, they even tell you an estimated rickshaw fare!

hey, this is pretty cool. I am impressed by its features though a few glitches, Western Express Highway is so called Freeway of Mumbai and it never uses as a road to travel unless you live on the east side of the station, If you want to travel from lets say Goregaon West to Andheri East, it takes you through Swami Vivekanand Road, just something that i noticed but still i would say great work and this is before google has launched something like this, so my thumbs up for this one. good work.

great work yahoo, one more feature i tried and it may be of benefit is that if you want to go to 4-5 places one after the other you can put all the addresses to gether from one to another in the same map and it takes care of it. this may be of great help while distributing KANKOTRIS for the next wedding in the family.

very nice Nimit, Yahoo is spreading in India for good things.
Directions are right , Paras highway is definatly good option but If you catch auto from goregaon west and want to go Andheri east , this is the route it will take.

this is great work. Now we don’t need to ask the “paanwala” for directions, eh?

May be each PAANWALLA can have internet and can give YAHOO directions. This is cool, I am sure they will work out glitches.
I am not sure they can use GPS there with lot of illegal construction there and new Gullies and Roads sprouting up overnight.
Yahooooo
