The Law of the Garbage Trucks
How often do you let other people’s nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day?
Unless you’re the Terminator, for an instant you’re probably set back on your heels. However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly she can get back her focus on what’s important.
I learned it in the back of a Harare City taxi cab. Here’s what happened. I hopped in a taxi and we took off for Westgate. We were driving when all of a sudden a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his
breaks, skidded, and missed the other car’s back end by just inches!
Here’s what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. How do I know? Ask any Zimbabwean, some words in Harare come with a special face.
Now, here’s what blew me away. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!”
And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, “The Law of the Garbage Truck.”
Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You’ll be happy you did. I guarantee it.
So this was it: The “Law of the Garbage Truck.” I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people: at work, at home, on the streets? It was that day I
said, “I’m not going to do it anymore.”
I began to see garbage trucks. Like in the movie “The Sixth Sense,” the little boy said, “I see Dead People.” Well now “I see Garbage Trucks.” I see the load they’re carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. And like my Taxi Driver, I don’t make
it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on.
One of my favourite Football players of all times, Ronaldino, does this every day on the football field. With a smile he always jumps up as quickly as he hits the ground after being tackled. He never dwells on a hit. Ronaldino is always ready to make the next play his best. Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school with hugs and kisses.
Leaders and parents know that they have to be fully present, and at their best for the people they care about.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their day.
What about you? What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by? You’ll be happier
May God Bless You With Health,Happiness and Prosperity Always

NEW WAY TO DO CAR JACKING
(NOT A JOKE)
Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating…
You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside.
You start the engine and shift into Reverse.
When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off.
They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the car jacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!
BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS
NOW BEING USED….
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away.
Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail.
I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women.
A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.
Please keep this going.
Thank you.

Dear Family,
believe it or not, its time to start planning for Medavo 2008, our next camping trip. To me it just feels like just last week we were doing Bhavnas in the cabins and playing frisbee golf in muddy woods. But its actually been almost two months. Summer is over and fall is here, the trees in our backyard are already shedding leaves.
The point is that we should start planning the next medavo camping trip. I have spoken a bunch of you on the phone and the general consensus is that the trip should be a 2 full days and three nights of camping, and during one of the early weekends of June.
I think we should have a conference call just like last time to discuss everything regarding the trip and finalize the details of the dates and locations of the trip.
Conference call
Saturday September 29th 2007
6:00 PM eastern time (5 PM CST, and 3 PM PST)
Conference Bridge number: (978) 431-1111
Pin Code will be: 928
Please check your calenders before you get on the conference call that way we can talk about and finalize on the dates.
Please call me with any new ideas or questions
Thanks,
Ashish

Hi everyone! Currently I am at the NextFest conference in Los Angeles presenting the work I’ve done with Yahoo MapMixer, so I haven’t been able to respond to your questions quickly. So here we go!
First of all, let me say that I appreciate all of your love even though most of you didn’t know what the whole big deal was all about
About 6 months ago I started working on a project code named Remaps. The idea then was that when we go to any normal map sites for places like college campus or parks or the similar, Yahoo or Google maps don’t have any detail for the area. However, for most of these places, there already exist tons of detailed maps that provide the missing data. So how do we take advantage of all these detailed maps? This is what Yahoo! MapMixer is all about.
Let me give you an example. Here is a map of a place dear to us all, Kutch. There is no detailed data for Kutch on any mapping platform:
You can view this map’s page on MapMixer too. See how it is overlaid on the same area on the Yahoo Map? Try to zoom, and drag the map. It behaves just like a normal map would. Make sure you also try the opacity slider on the top right hand corner. That will change the transparency level of the map and let you peek underneath easily.
So that is what the product is. You can access the public product here: http://maps.yahoo.com/mapmixer
In the few days after launch, it has been getting a lot of good press coverage from both the traditional news outlets, and also from bloggers. I was interviewed by BusinessWeek, Reuters, and am also scheduled with NPR (National Public Radio). Below is a list of some of those articles:

Also finally, I’d like to apologize that I have alienated myself the past few months from not only Medavo but from calling everyone, etc. Ami & Avi know how many of their calls I haven’t returned in time
I also want to thank all of you for being the greatest, most supportive and loving family in the world. I worked on this just about every hour of the day I had, and most times of the night also. I have also learned a great, great deal about how to build a public product. I have loved every moment of it—every tiring, getting-2-hours-of-sleep, sleeping-under-my-work-desk, forgetting-to-eat moment of it. Now on to the next “shower” idea…
Love,
Nimit
