I actually liked this idea, but I wasn’t sure about doing it as a way of life

I can understand their motivation and inspiration. I think if we all lived closely in touch with nature, it would be very difficult to exploit the environment and our resources because we would actually see what is going on. This story sheds light on how far removed we are from the origin of the things we use daily. For example, even though I use jeera and rai everyday, I have no idea what type of a plant they come from. A few days ago, I saw the haldi root for the first time. We are moving “up” by efficiently dividing up work and using pre-packaged and processed products, but we live disconnected lives.

I am inspired by the lifestyle they are living. Another example of this is Mr. Manilal Gala (Sadubhai of Dr. Vishan Nagda). He lives half of his time in Mumbai, some time in Kutch and places in Gujarat. His son does not go to any school but is taught at home and probably i think, he knows more than what any school going kid might know. As shared in the story, Manilal Gala and his wife have taught him all extracurricular thing and are teaching their son in Kutchi medium school(which is their own school) and Mr. Manilal Gala himself write textbooks year after year as his son gets older. I had a chance to meet him during our Kutchi dictionary work in Sept 05. Thank you Jyoti Masi for sharing a great story.
