Summer is here!!
Posted by Paras May 10th, 2006
Hi everybody, I am done with my exams and now also decided on what i want to do for the summer.
Before starting, i wanted to share a poem i wrote when i was really tensed during my s/w architecture paper.
Here goes:-
No one’s there around me,
No one’s there beside me,
I have to walk this way alone,
I have to carve a niche on my own.
First when i was in darkness
You showed me light,
Now when i need you the most
You are no where in sight.
I am scared to face this world alone,
I am scared to face the ups and downs on my own.
I am writing this poem coz i am really tensed,
My conscience seems to tell me things which make no sense.
My summer plans are to work on projects with Nimit in Sunnyvale and gain some valuable experience. I am right now full of mixed emotions… Excited, Eager to learn and scared.
I am probably going to drive up to Sunnyvale this weekend. Looking forward to my summer internship work.
I have also registered with the Kojain event in Washington D.C. for the 14th July weekend. I am the session leader for an event called “Kutchi Acheto”. This event is for people who know very little Kutchi or no Kutchi. I have to plan the entire event.
I have figured out some games and things. Let me know your thoughts, opinions and new suggestions.
There can be several rounds & every team gets 10 points for correct answer and -5 for wrong answer….
1. round is “kutchi word antakshari” 1st team gets a letter from u and they tell a kutchi word…next team should pick last letter and then tell new word…this can continue for 3 rounds and every team can score 30 points…
2. round is mono-acting….u write down some kutchi word(s) in some chits ….1 person from team will come in front, picks up chit and has to convey his/her team the word by way of acting only….team guessing correct word will get full points…time bound game.
3. Round could be 1 min round in which u write words in chits and team has to sing number of kutchi songs in 1 min which contains that word……team can score 50/60 points in a minute.
4. Round could be again puzzle round in which u give 5 envelopes to each team…
each envelope contains some chits with letters on it
e.g. envelope1 - H U J R U P B
team has to find name of a village from kutch “BHUJPUR” by arranging the letters in right order.
5. Round could be question/answer round
u have set of questions for each team…max time 1 min….each question has answer of 1 kutchi word
10 marks for each correct answer.
6. Make the group of participants and give them a situation, and ask them to write some thing or roughly prepare an outline on that situation in whatever writing script since Kutchi doesn’t have script.
You can also prepare some outline scripts in English and provide each group with one Kutchi speaker to help the group in understanding and translation. For example. Just imagine how it would sound when Gabbar speaks ” Ketra Madu va (kitne Aadmi they), and Kaliya says, AAUN anjo Mitho Khadho Ahiyan, Muja seth. (Maine aapka namak khaya hai, sarkar)
I have to come up with a short 2 - 4 sentence paragraph with slightly more detail that will entice people to come listen to it. [This is what we will eventually put in the ‘brochure’].
So, if you can think anything then let me know.
Rest all fine from my side. Hope all of you are doing well.

Interesting ideas Paras.. but i’m not sure if participants will be able to sing Kutchi song or find a name of village if the audience knows little or no kutchi. Otherwise it seems like this would be a fun game. Good Luck and have fun.

Hi Paras
Here is one story that is relevent to your poem.
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life . For each scene , he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand ; one belong to him , and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him , he looked back at the footprints in the sand . He noticed that many time along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. And it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. “Lord , you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way.But I have noticed that during the most troublesome time in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.”
The LORD replied.” My precious, precious child . I love you and I will never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering , when you see only one set of footprints , it was then that I carried you.”

Raspa bhai! Guys I think YOU should be excited about Paras coming to work with me. The first few projects I will be assigning to him will have to do with Medavo, so you all will be a great source of feedback to him about what you want to see and what you dislike and like.
The projects I have in mind are secret right now, but be excited!
