I know I havent written a post in a LONG time, so…I thought I’d write a post about my first Holi experience :) . This is the first time I’ve ever played holi and actually remembered….I might have played in India, I dont know. Our ISA (Indian Student Association) organized this event for us. It was supposed to be last saturday, March 25, but Cleveland weather got the best of us — it snowed! Luckily, yesterday was really nice outside…it was a little cold but hey! who could say no to playing holi ;) . Anyhow, it was A LOT of fun!! We were just chasing each other around the field throwing colors onto one another. We didnt use oil paint, we just used the powdered colors — but it was fun nonetheless. My favorite was just taking some of the rang into my hand and smearing it all over the other persons face :) …hehehe. I was afraid the color wouldnt come out easily…but luckily, it did. In the end, it was a LOT of fun and definitely was worth the time :) . Here are some of our pictures from playing…most of them are the after-effects of playing. Although, I wish I had gotten pictures of people actually running around and stuff but…of course, I was too busy playing myself :-D . Hi everyone,
March 31 – April 1 I participated in an intercollege Mediation Competition. We had two teams of 3 students from my college. This was my first time participating in such a competition and it was a Lot of fun! Most of you probably don’t know what Mediation is… Well, Mediation is basically an alternative to a trial/lawsuit in court. When two parties are in dispute but they don’t want to go through the expense of having a trial, they will often have an experienced Mediator help them reach a settlement. So, it seems like mediation is kind of inherently uncompetitive….but we were definitely competing!

There were three total rounds which required everyone in the team to be a client, attorney, and mediator in one round. I was first the attorney, then the client, then the mediator. Then the top 4 teams would go into the final round. Well, BOTH OF LOYOLA’s TEAMS MADE TOP 4! I think that’s really cool. The unfortunate part was that we were forced to compete against our own team, but eventually my team ended 4th and the other team 2nd.

So at the end of the night, we took away two of the four trophies, and two of our team members also won “top ten mediator” awards. I really enjoyed the experience myself. It was challenging, but a lot of fun!!
